Katie Finneran to star with Michael J. Fox!
NBC’s Michael J. Fox comedy is filling out his family. “Wonderfalls” and “I Hate My Teenage Daughter” alum Katie Finneran and young actors Conor Romero and Jack Gore have joined the cast of the upcoming NBC comedy.
Inspired by the former Family Ties actor’s life, NBC ordered 22 episodes of the untitled single-camera comedy starring Fox as a husband and father of three from New York City dealing with family, career and challenges — including Parkinson’s disease.
Fox will play Mike Burnaby, a former lead anchor at a local station in New York City who decides to go back to work after Parkinson’s forced him to take time off.
Finneran will play Leigh, Mike’s younger sister, who is described as a single narcissist who is jobless and doing whatever she can to remain young. Romero (American Gangster) will play Ian, Mike’s teenaged son, who recently returned home after dropping out of college despite being incredibly smart, driven and confident. Newcomer Gore will play Graham, Mike’s youngest son, who has an old soul.
The trio join Treme’s Wendell Pierce, who will play Harris Green, Mike’s close friend and old boss at WNBC’s 5 O’Clock News. He’s described as being perennially single and proud that he’s dodged settling down. He’s got a good heart underneath his ratings-concerned, status-driven exterior and would rather be enjoying an outdoor hobby than doing anything else.
The comedy, which was ordered straight to series, now needs to cast Mike’s wife, his middle child/daughter, and his sweet executive producer.
